I read this on the uk embassy website:

You asked if a national of Nepal needs a visa to pass through the UK in transit.

Yes, you need a Direct Airside Transit (DAT) visa, unless you qualify for exemption because you hold one of the following:

-a valid visa for entry to Australia, Canada, New Zealand or the United States of America and a valid airline ticket for travel via the United Kingdom as part of a journey from another country or territory to the country in respect of which the visa is held;

-a valid visa for entry to Australia, Canada, New Zealand or the United States of America and a valid airline ticket for travel via the United Kingdom as part of a journey from the country in respect of which the visa is held to another country or territory;

I have a valid F-1 visa for the USA until 2008. I will be leaving the US, traveling via London to KTm, and back the same way to the USA next month. Does this mean I dont need a transit visa for London?

Can enyone experienced share their thoughts. Has anyone recently traveled via the UK, on similar situations?

You are right Kancha. I am also travelling via London in the end of April. My understanding is that you don't need transit visa as long as your US visa is valid. A friend of mine came to US last July without UK transit visa and went back the same route in the third week of February again. He said he asked immigration people and they also said UK transit visa is not required if the person has valid US visa.

But lets keep updating this thread if someone has other contradicting info.
