Hi all- I am transferring to George Mason this fall so need some info about the area. I googled the neighborhood and bus routes but couldn't get much info on the area. Which is the good affordable, safe area for the students? Also how is the public transportation ..safety wise.. I am hoping to live nearby skool (3-4 mi) and wont have a car for at least few months. 

Any suggestions ??

George Mason??? Nice
You don't have to worry abt transportation coz u have bus as well as metro rail. Bus will go all the way to the parking lot of mason, i think, but not sure. Area is nice, expensive though... good luck

Look for Vienna area....also search for GOLD BUS route!! Many affordable($1200+/2 bed room) apartments in this area!!

try to find a roomate in circle towers apartment ..search in sulekha.com or craigslist with keyword "search roomate in circle towers"...
rents are expensive in fairfax so i think it is better to find roomates....good luck

You can contact me. I live in Fairfax.......shuttle to George Mason leaves from infront of my building. I may have a place to stay for few months .......Contact me. I am pretty familiar with this area as I have been living here for last 3.5 years.
